Redirect users to the latest Source Course re-offering

Create a single, persistent link that automatically redirects enrolled users to the current re-offered course of a Source Course. This reduces manual updates in external portals and ensures learners always access the most relevant version of their training.

You can include this link in any external resource where course links are normally shared, such as a company intranet, course catalog, or automated email.

Create a redirect link

Replace the placeholders in the following URL with your organization's Brightspace URL and the Org Unit ID of your Source Course.

Use the following redirect link format:

{base-url}/d2l/platformTools/courses/sourceCourse/{sourceCourseId}/currentCourseOffering
Replace {base-url} with your Brightspace instance URL (for example, https://yourorg.brightspace.com).
Replace {sourceCourseId} with the unique Org Unit ID of your Source Course.
Paste the completed link into the external resource where you want learners to access the Source Course.

Identify the Source Course Org Unit ID

This is the paper note and pencil icon used for notes.

Note: The redirect link identifies the current course based on the learner's enrollment. If a learner is enrolled in multiple offerings of the same Source Course, they are redirected to the offering with the most recent start date.

Access the Source Courses library from the navbar or dashboard.
In the Source Courses tab, click the name of the Source Course you want to link to.
Copy the Org Unit ID from the browser's address bar. The Org Unit ID appears as the number at the end of the URL (for example, .../ou/12345).

This is the bullhorn icon used for warnings.

Important: Users must be enrolled in at least one offering of the Source Course for the redirect to work. If a user is not enrolled, they receive a Not Authorized error. To allow learners to access the redirect link, ensure the course is available for self-enrollment through the Discover tool.
