You can use the Org Unit Editor to create, archive, and restore org units in Brightspace.

|
Note: You must have the required Org Unit Editor role permission applied to your role to perform these actions. Refer to Org Unit Editor permissions for more details. |
Create an org unit
You can use the Org Unit Editor to create a new org unit.

|
Tip: When you enter course offering and course section codes for your new org unit, D2L recommends the following naming conventions:
- Course offering - <DEPT_ORG_SEMESTER>
- Course sections - <DEPT_ORG_SEMESTER_SECTIONVALUE>
These recommended naming conventions will foster effective reporting (to aggregate data based on codes) and searching of features. |
To create an org unit
- From the Admin Tools menu, click Org Unit Editor.
- Click Create Org Unit.
- From the New Org Unit page, enter your org unit details:
- Select the Type of org unit you want to create.
- Enter an org unit Name.
- Enter a Code.
- Enter a Path.
- Enter a Parent ID or click Select Org Unit to search for a parent org unit.

The org unit is moved to the Archived Org Units page.
