D2L Achievement+ Quick Start

D2L Achievement+ is a paid add-on to Brightspace Core. To purchase D2L Achievement+, contact your D2L Account manager.

The Achievement+ add-on package aggregates data into two new visualization components within Grade book Mastery View and dashboards in Insights Portal using specific settings in Learning Outcomes.

Enablement requirements for D2L Achievement+

Once purchased, D2L Services configures access to Insights Portal for your organization. D2L Achievement+ is successfully configured in your organization when the Outcome Achievement Dashboard appears in the Insights Portal; and Course Achievement Overview appears in the Grades Mastery View in all courses within programs.

After Insights Portal is configured, ensure you have set up the following tools and settings to populate the dashboards provided by D2L Achievement+:

Set up Insights

Add the Insights > Can See Outcome Achievement Dashboard permission for all user roles that require access to the Outcome Achievement Dashboard.

Ensure all Insights permissions are set for all required user roles.

Set up the Learning Outcomes tool

Ensure all Learning Outcomes permissions are set for all required user roles.
Set up Programs of higher-level learning outcomes.
Ensure all program level outcomes are added to all courses within the program.
Set the Achievement Scale for learning outcomes in your organization and courses.
Set the Achievement Threshold within courses for your organization.

Set up the Grade book Mastery View

Ensure Mastery View is configured for use in all courses in your organization programs.

Setting the Achievement Threshold

The Achievement Threshold is a binary threshold setting that determines the Met and Not Met criteria for all reported learning outcomes in the Outcome Achievement Dashboard and the Course Achievement Overview in Grades Mastery View.

To set the Achievement Threshold for a course:

From Admin Tools, click Learning Outcomes.
Select an achievement scale.
Set the Achievement Threshold.

Click Save and Close.

Impacts to Brightspace Data Sets

Enabling D2L Achievement+ for your organization impacts the following data sets:

Outcomes Assessed Checkpoints Brightspace data set: Once the Outcome Achievement Dashboard is enabled, the HasMetAchievementThreshold column will populate with data (instead of NULL) when assessments meet the Achievement Threshold.
Outcomes Course Specific Scales data set: When the Outcome Achievement Dashboard is enabled, the AchievementThreshold column populates with data (instead of NULL) when assessments meet the Achievement Threshold.
