Before you start using the Consumption Dashboard and D2L Lumi Pro for Brightspace in your organization, ensure you complete the required setup.
Enable the Consumption Dashboard
The Consumption tool must be enabled from Organization Tools.
To enable the Consumption Dashboard
- Navigate to Admin Tools > Organization Tools.
- On the Tool Availability page, enable Consumption.
Assign Consumption Dashboard permissions
Users require a role permission to view and access the Consumption Dashboard.
To assign role permissions
- Navigate to Admin Tools > Roles and Permissions.
- On the Role List page, click the role you want to be able to access the Consumption Dashboard.
- On the Edit Permissions page, click the Filter by Tool drop-down menu and select Consumption.
- Click Apply Filter.
- Select the See Consumption Dashboard permission at the Organization level.
- Click Save and Close.
Enable D2L Lumi Pro for Brightspace
Brightspace displays D2L Lumi Pro as Generative AI in Organization Tools.
To enable Generative AI
- Navigate to Admin Tools > Organization Tools.
- On the Tool Availability page, enable Generative AI.
Assign D2L Lumi Pro permissions
D2L Lumi Pro requires specific role permissions to enable users to generate questions for Quizzes, and Ideas for Discussions and Assignments.
To assign role permissions
- Navigate to Admin Tools > Roles and Permissions.
- On the Role List page, click the role you want to be able to use D2L Lumi Pro for Brightspace.
- On the Edit Permissions page, click the Filter by Tool drop-down menu and select Generative AI.
- Enable the following permissions, usually at the Course Offering level:
- Generate Questions
- Generative Ideas for Discussions
- Generative Ideas for Assignments
Set configuration variables for D2L Lumi Pro for Brightspace
You must also ensure that D2L Lumi Pro configuration variables are enabled.
To set configuration variables
- Navigate to Admin Tools > Config Variable Browser.
- Navigate to the d2l.Tools.GenerativeAI.isEnabled configuration variable and select it.
- Click Add Value.
- In the Add Variable Value dialog, input or select an org unit(s) and change the Value to on.
