The Admin Tools menu allows you to search for and pin Administrator tools for easy access in Brightspace.

Important: To enable the new Admin Tools menu, you must turn d2l.Preferences.NewAdminToolsMenu (Org) to ON. This configuration variable will be removed and the new Admin Tools menu will be enabled permanently in all instances of Brightspace as of the December 2025 / 20.25.12 release. Refer to Preferences configuration variables for more information.

Visual Tour of the Admin Tools menu
- Click Admin Tools (Cog icon) to access the Admin Tools menu.
- Use the Search field to locate tools quickly and easily.

Figure: The All tab of the Admin Tools menu displays all tools available to you as a system Administrator. Headings such as User Related and Organization Related help you to quickly scan for tools.

Figure: The Pinned tab displays all the tools you have pinned to the menu. Search for any tools you want to find and click the Pin icon to pin or un-pin items.
By default, the Pinned tab displays:
- Courses
- External Learning Tools
- Homepage Management
- Navigation & Themes
- Org Unit Editor
- Organization Files
- Users
