Tool dependencies
The Mastery View depends on Learning Outcomes being enabled at the main org level and within the course offering. When it is enabled, it automatically appears in the Learning Outcomes (Standards) Tool at the main org level and within the course offering. In addition, ensure that Grades is enabled at the main org level and the course level.
For more information about setting up the Learning Outcomes (Standards) Tool, see:
Configuration variables
In addition to configuration variable settings required for Learning Outcomes, The d2l.Tools.LearningOutcomes.LoaSuggestions configuration variable must be enabled in the organization or course offering where you intend to use the Grade book Mastery View. If this variable is not enabled, the system cannot make automated suggestions for level of achievement on individual activity assessments. Those achievement level evaluations would need to be manually completed by the evaluator in order for the Mastery View calculation engine to provide a suggested level of achievement based upon the assessment evaluations.
Note: The d2l.Languages.Terminology.LearningOutcomes configuration variable enables you to choose the name or label for the Learning Outcomes tool. There are five available options (Standards, Expectations, Outcomes, Objectives, Competencies). In general, user documentation refers to the tool as Outcomes; however, there may be some instances of a different example being used. Your instance might not have the same label as the examples.
Permissions
There are the following role-based permissions which govern the use of Mastery View:
- Outcomes > Manage Outcomes
- Grades > See the Grades tool, Enter Grades
You must be assigned the Manage Outcomes permission at the Org level or Course level to use the Learning Outcomes tool. With this permission, you can import or create learning outcomes in a course and copy standard requirements between courses. This permission allows you to set up achievement scales if granted at the Org level.
To access Mastery View, you should also have the See the Grades tool and Enter Grades permissions. With these permissions, you can select a learner/outcome intersection to view the Manual Evaluation page and use the Manual Override functionality to perform a manual override and enter feedback.
