Summary
In Brightspace, using the Assignment Annotation tool, with Text Annotations, when a user makes a spelling mistake while typing in Chrome and the browser spell check is enabled, the misspelled word is not automatically highlighted. However, the same misspelled word is correctly highlighted when typed using the Notes feature in Assignment Annotations.
This issue applies to (but may not be limited to) Brightspace 20.25.08 and Chrome version 138.0.7204.158.

As a workaround to this issue: use Firefox or Microsoft Edge, where browser spell check does highlight misspelled words in the Text Annotation tool.
Steps to Reproduce:
- Reproducibility: Every time
- Ensure that the spell check setting is enabled in your browser (e.g., Chrome).
- Navigate to an Assignment and open the Annotation tool.
- Use the Text Annotation feature and intentionally type a few misspelled words.
- # Notice that the misspelled words are not highlighted by the browsers spell check.
- Now, use the Note Annotation feature and type the same misspelled words.
- # Observe that the misspelled words are highlighted, and the browser provides spelling suggestions.
