The Multi-Profile Widget is a system widget that displays multiple roles and functions to be presented directly to learners on a course homepage. Drawing user details from Classlists and User Profiles, the Multi-Profile Widget automatically pulls in the people and details that you set up.
The Multi-Profile widget is part of the add-on Homepage Widget Expansion Pack. Contact your D2L representative to learn more about purchase options.
Deploy the Multi-Profile Widget to your homepage
Refer to Create a widget-based homepage to set up your homepage.
To add the Multi-Profile Widget to your homepage
- Click Homepage Options (...) from bottom of the widget-based homepage you want to edit.
- Select Edit this Homepage.
- From the Edit Homepage screen, click Add Widgets from the panel you want the widget to appear in on your homepage.
- Click System Widget in the Add Widgets dialog.
- Select the check box for Multi-Profile Widget. Click Add.
- Click Save and Close.
Modify and setup the Multi-Profile Widget
Modify the Multi-Profile widget to customize the heading, select which roles the widget displays, group role types, and choose profile fields to display in the widget.
To modify and set up the Multi-Profile widget
- Navigate to the Multi-Profile widget on your homepage.
- From the Multi-Profile widget, click the Open Multi-Profile Widget Tools (...) button and then choose an option to modify:
- Customize Heading: Enter a new heading in the Add custom heading* field. Click Save.
- Display Roles: Choose which roles to automatically display in the widget.
- Create Categories: Group roles under a category heading. This is useful for roles that have unusual naming conventions in Brightspace for administration purposes.
- Display Profile Fields: Select which profile fields will appear for each user listed in the widget. This pulls from the User Profile that any user can update in their User Settings area.
