Brightspace Extensions provides a consolidated experience where administrators can browse approved partner extensions, install these extensions into Brightspace, and manage their deployment and availability to courses within their organization. The list of available extensions is limited initially to select partners, but will expand as support for API and LTI components are added to Brightspace Extensions in future releases.
Certified integration partners can create Brightspace Extensions that can include:
- JavaScript
- extension parameters
- default values for defined parameters
- IMS context role mapping to manage to whom an extension applies.
Once submitted for approval, partner extensions are reviewed and tested prior to being published in Find Extensions.
The Brightspace Extensions platform is accessible from Admin Tools > Manage Extensibility > Extensions.

Install an available Brightspace extension
You can search the Brightspace Extensions platform to find extensibility solutions that benefit their organization, install the extensions, and deploy them to specific branches or the whole organization.
To install a Brightspace extension
- From Admin Tools, click Manage Extensibility > Extensions.
- Click Find Extensions.
- Click to select the Brightspace Extension you want to install.
- Click Install Extension.
Deploy an installed Brightspace extension
Once you install an available Brightspace extension, you must deploy the extension to ensure that it is available in a Brightspace org unit.
To deploy an installed extension
- From Admin Tools, click Manage Extensibility > Extensions.
- Click Manage for the extension you want to deploy.
- Ensure that you are viewing the Overview (default) tab.
- Under Deployments, click Add Deployment.
- Enter the appropriate parameters and org unit availability information in the Create Deployment dialog.
- Click Save.
View activity logs for Brightspace Extensions
Activity logs provide you with information about the status of specific activities related to managing your Brightspace Extensions.
To view extension activity logs
- From Admin Tools, click Manage Extensibility > Extensions.
- Click Manage for the extension you want to deploy.
- Click the Activity Logs tab.
- Do any of the following:
- Select an Org Unit
- Select a User
- Select a Date range. By default, the log includes the last 30 days.
- In the Activity list, click the right-facing arrow to expand the log for the activity.
