If you have the required permission, you can create a new course offering quickly and easily from the Create Course widget on your organization homepage.

Important: When you create a course using Create Course widget in a Distributed Administration setup, the widget will display all departments under an organization, which can result in a course being created in a department outside of the sub-organization. Therefore, it is strongly recommended that you do not use the Create Course widget to create new courses in a Distributed Administration setup. Refer to About Distributed Administration for more details.

To create a course in the Create Course widget
- Click Create Course in the Create Course widget.
- Assign a Course Name
- Select a Department from the drop-down list. Click Next.
- Confirm the Course Name and Department are correct and click Create Course.
The course is now created and you are enrolled into the new course with a predefined role, for example, as Instructor. Click the link to navigate to the new course homepage and start creating content. If you have applicable enrollment permissions, you can also enroll learners or other users into the new course.
