Use the Links tool to create a centralized, organized list of course and external resources so learners can quickly access important materials throughout your course. Group links into categories to improve navigation and reduce duplication across content pages.
The Links tool is useful when you want to maintain a curated list of resources without embedding them directly into multiple content modules.

Note: Links and link categories display only within the Links tool. They do not automatically appear in Content. |
When to use the Links tool
Use the Links tool in the following scenarios:
- To provide a centralized list of external websites or internal course resources
- To group related resources (for example, library resources or technical support)
- To manage and update links in one location
- To avoid duplicating links across multiple content pages
Create a link
- On the navbar, click Course Admin.
- Click Links.
- On the Manage Links page, click New Link.

- Do one of the following:
- To add the link to an existing category, select a category from the Category drop-down list.
- To add the link to a new category, click New Category, enter the category details, and then click Save.
- To enter a title, type the link name in the Title field.
- Do one of the following:
- To add an external link, enter the URL in the URL field.
- To add a Brightspace item, click Quicklink, and then select the item.

- Click Save.
Create a link category
- On the navbar, click Course Admin.
- Click Links.
- On the Manage Links page, click New Category.

- Enter your category details.
- Click Save.
Delete links and link categories

Important: Deleting a category permanently deletes all links within that category.

- On the navbar, click Course Admin.
- Click Links.
- From the Actions menu of the link or link category you want to delete, click Delete.

Add a link from the Links tool to a content page
If you want to reference a link from the Links tool in your content:
- Go to Course Admin > Links and locate the desired link.
- Right-click the link and select Copy Link Address (browser wording may vary) or open the link and copy the URL from your browser address bar.
- Go to the content page where you want to add the link and open the Brightspace Editor.
- Highlight the text or place your cursor where you want the link.
- Click the Insert Quicklink or Insert Link button in the editor toolbar.
- Paste the copied URL into the URL field.
- Click Insert (or Save), then save the page.
