Generate quiz questions using D2L Lumi Question

Use D2L Lumi Question to generate questions for your Question Library and add these questions into your course's quizzes.

This is the paper note and pencil icon used for notes.

Note: Quiz questions can be generated from free-text or source topics added to the Content tool. The following content types are supported:

Pages
Media Library topics (both audio and video are supported but must have existing transcripts in English)
Most file topics excluding PDFs (.doc, .docx, .odt, .ppt, .pps, .pptx, .ppsx, .odp, .xls, .xlsx, .rtf, .txt)

This is the lightbulb icon used for tips.

Tip: D2L recommends input submitted to D2L Lumi be in English. Brightspace does not prevent non-English language content from being submitted as input.

To generate quiz questions

Navigate to Quizzes.
Click the Question Library tab.
On the Question Library page, click Generate Questions.

In the Generate Questions dialog, select a Content Source. Based on the Content Source you choose, perform the following actions:
- If you select Course Content:
  1. Click Select Content.
  2. In the Insert Quicklink dialog, click the Content topic you want to use to generate questions. Optionally, click edit the source text to edit the text for more precision on the question generation.

- If you select Custom Text, enter text in the Source Text field.

Select the Number of Questions you want to generate.
Select the Question Type.

Optionally, select a Bloom's Taxonomy level appropriate for your assessment goals. If you do not want to use Bloom's Taxonomy, leave the field as Select Level.

Click Generate.
Click Pending Review for the first quiz question to open the Review Question dialog.

After reviewing and editing a quiz question, select one of the following:
- Click Keep and Next to keep the current quiz question and review the next question.
- Click Discard and Next to delete the current quiz question and review the next question.
- Click Close This Question to return to the generated list of questions.

After reviewing the last quiz question, select one of the following:
- Click Keep and Finish to keep the current quiz question and return to the generated list of questions.
- Click Discard and Finish to delete the current quiz question and return to the generated list of questions.
- Click Close This Question to return to the generated list of questions.

In the Generated Questions dialog, click Save to Section. If you do not wish to use any of the questions, click Cancel and Discard.
Select Save to Current Section or Create New Section for your quiz questions.

Optionally, select Align each question to outcomes used to focus question generation.
Click Save.

The questions appear in your Question Library and have icon indicators to note that AI was used. The spark icon denotes that the question was only AI-generated. The person with spark icon denotes that the question was AI-generated with human editing. Learners do not see the AI origin information.
