Use learning objectives to represent the things that a person needs to learn to acquire a competency or become competent in each domain. You can associate learning objectives with activities, including assignments.

Important: Learning objectives are created and managed using the Competencies tool. Learning objectives are not the same as Learning Outcomes, which are created using the Learning Outcomes tool. You cannot use both Competencies and Learning Outcomes in the same course. For more information, refer to the What's the difference between Competencies and Learning Outcomes section of About Learning Outcomes.

To associate a learning objective with an assignment
- On the navbar, click Assignments.
- Edit the assignment you want to associate with a learning objective.
- Click to expand Evaluation & Feedback, then click Manage Learning Objectives.

Figure: Click Manage Learning Objectives to select the learning objectives you want to associate with your assignment.
- Click Associate Learning Objectives.
- Browse or search to find learning objectives you want to add.
- Click Add Selected.
- Click Save and Close.
Your assignment is associated with a learning objective created by the Competency tool.
