Ouriginal by URKUND is a plagiarism detection integration that generates reports for submissions made to assignments. When the documents arrive at Ouriginal's servers, they are analyzed against the content of three source areas: the internet, published material and learner material.
Ouriginal provides instructors and learners with a significance score to show what percentage of a document is drawn from other sources, as well as access to Ouriginal's site for a full report on the submission.
For instructor resources, refer to the Ouriginal Brightspace Instructor Guide.

Turn on Ouriginal by URKUND Plagiarism Checker for an assignment
In order for an assignment to send its submissions to Ouriginal for processing, you must turn on plagiarism detection. If plagiarism detection is turned on for an assignment after learner submissions have been made, all files will be processed by Ouriginal. If plagiarism detection is turned off and back on, all unprocessed submissions are sent to Ouriginal for processing.
- Access a course, and on the navbar, click the Ouriginal Plagiarism Checker link.
- On the Assignment Overview page, use the toggles in the Turn On/Off Plagiarism Detection column to enable or disable the assignment for plagiarism detection.
Note: If any errors are encountered during processing by Ouriginal, contact their support team directly. Provide them with the Receiver Account information listed next to the assignment displaying errors on the Plagiarism Detection Overview. This allows Ouriginal support to identify your account and determine the cause of the error.

Troubleshooting learner issues with Ouriginal by URKUND
- Errors generated by learner submissions:
If any errors are generated in Ouriginal, the instructor can re-submit the document by clicking on the document name on the Plagiarism Submission Details page and selecting re-submit. If that doesn't resolve the issue, contact Ouriginal support and provide them with the receiver account information for the affected assignment. This information is visible on the Plagiarism Detection Overview page.
- Cause of errors generated by learner submissions:
If a submitted document is less than 400 characters or more than 20MB, an error will be generated. Also, if a report is not generated by Ouriginal within 96 hours, an error occurs.
- Publish feedback for processed submissions:
The significance score is only visible to learners once feedback has been published for their submission on the Evaluate Submission page in the Assignments tool.
- Group access to significance score and report information:
Significance score information and report access for group submissions are available to all members of the group, not just the learner who made the submission.
- Understanding Last Updated information on the Plagiarism Detection Overview page:
The Last Updated information on the Plagiarism Detection Overview page indicates the last time an Ouriginal report was requested by D2L.
- Opt out of Plagiarism Detection option:
If a learner chooses to opt out of Plagiarism Detection, their document will only be fully available to the organization to which it was originally submitted.
