Students within a group given the same grade: Want students to have individual grades
An instructor created a group assignment in which each student submitted their own individual work. However, when she graded the submissions, Brightspace automatically applied the same grade to all members of each group. She now needs to assign individual grades to each student. To overwrite the auto‑applied group grades,…

Bonus points for a pool
I have extra credit material for my students to review, and I have created question-pools out of that material, as I do not want all my students to have the same extra credit question. But I find that Brightspace will not allow me to make the questions in a pool for Bonus. Does anyone have a solution for that ? That is, is…

Fill in the blank submission view (show correct/incorrect answers)
(This is a follow-up to a question I asked several years ago. I'm starting a new thread for visibility. My apologies if I should have revived the old thread instead.) I'm trying to set up a quiz that students can take more than once with only their highest score recorded. Is it possible to set up a Fill-in-the-Blanks…

How to quickly identify ungraded quiz questions?
I have a large number of quizzes in my course. Many of these quizzes include at last one written response question. It seems that the only way to identify ungraded responses to these questions is to: open the grading page for the quiz (by clicking the chevron menu next to the quiz name and then clicking Grade) click…

More detailed view of checklist progress for Instructors?
One of our faculty would like to replace a paper-based checklist-type assessment (it currently looks kind of like a rubric) and would like to adapt it for Brightspace using the Checklist tool. We believe we can adapt the checklist to suit the purpose but would like to know if Instructor users can have a more granular view…

How to setup Non-Numeric Grade Schemes & Rubric Alignment?
I am working with an instructor who would like a completely non-numeric Pass/Fail workflow. I am looking into two specific areas and wanted to check if there are any known workarounds. First, is it possible to create a Grade Scheme in D2L that does not require a "Start %"? My understanding is that even for a simple…

Using Lockdown Browser & Monitor on an Assignment
Hello! Our English department is trying to combat students cheating on written assignments. I was hoping we could use Respondus on Assignments, but that isn't an option. I know instructors could set up a quiz with a Written Response option, but by the time students write several drafts of each component of an essay, they…

Feedback RE: D2L document evaluation
When evaluating submissions, we have to click countless times on the mouse, and as D2L is right now, there are a lot of redundancies, which adds extra time and skeletal-muscular strain. Here are some suggestions: 1) If I delete a marking, do not ask me for confirmation, as this is an extra click. If I deleted something by…

feedback comments not saving fully
Hello, When using the "note" function while grading, some of the comments are not saving fully and I have to go back in and re-type them. This seems to be a relatively new issue, and I am wondering if anyone else is having it? Thank you,

Rubrics set to all-or-nothing when I use them. Level 4 can only be 100%; but Ss work isn't perfect
My other issue is grading assignments using the provided Level 'fill-ins'. I can't seem to indicate that a student "just made it into Level 4 in one category"; or was a Level 4+, etc. I can only select Level 4, which Brightspace insists is 5/5 = 100%. Therefore, I have to override the TOTAL ( to be more accurate to the…

How can I get the overall feedback that I give on a quiz to show in the stuent's grade report?
This is so frustrating. I would like the students to be able to see what I write as feedback for a quiz in the same place that they look for all the other feedback, which is their grade report. I simply cannot figure out how to do this. Is this possible? If not, I hope that they are working on it. What good is a quiz if…

Q text not saved in csv if figure is inserted at the beginning
If a figure is inserted before question text, then in the csv of the quiz data, the Q text field is blank. Now that I know this, I can put text in front of the figure to make sure this doesn't happen and I can identify these questions in the downloaded test data. But it seems like this problem could be easily fixed. Also,…

Reports (from Gradebook?)
Hello everyone, Is there a way to run a report, for a whole class, that shows their test performance categorized by learning objective? Let's say, for example, that my test has 10 questions. Questions 1-5 assess learning goal 1 (lg1). Questions 6-10 assess learning goal 2 (lg2). If my student passes the test, but misses…

How can a student link an artifact already uploaded to their portfolio to an assignment folder?
I am asking this so students can use the Portfolio app to create and upload think aloud videos and then these can be (quick) linked to an assignment? I do not see an option within the assignment quick links to add evidence from a portfolio. I'd rather not have to search through their portfolios for a particular video. TIA

Cross-courses badge award
Hi all, I believe I'm not the first one to ask this question but I couldn't find the right answer. I’d like to check what the best practice is for setting up a multi-course badge in Brightspace. The use case is: Each learner earns a badge upon completing an individual course. Once they complete a defined sequence (or…

Quick Eval - confusion
Why are assignments that are graded and published still appearing on "Quick Eval"? Even if I dismiss them from the quick eval within the appropriate course, the assignment remains on my system quick eval?
