We’re making improvements to enhance your Community Discussions categorization with YOU in mind!
What is Categorization 🗂️
Categories are the high-level organizers of your discussions in the Community, and each discussion must be placed in a Category.
This is different from a tag which allows you to mark a particular tool that you might be asking about. This categorization also allows you and subject matter experts to hop into the community to find all related questions!
We heard 💬
Community members were unsure how to best categorize their questions in the existing “Customer Enablement” category. Users noted to us that the category was not descriptive enough and allowed for confusion.
What does "Customer Enablement" mean?
Where should I post a question about settings for a quiz question?

We Understood ✅
During the July 2023 Fusion, we conducted user experience testing sessions both in Anaheim and virtually.
Why?
To better learn from you how to best categorize the Community Discussions forum!
With over 50 Community champions and members completing our test, we saw a preference to incorporate a categorization structure based on “Tasks to do in Brightspace” for our Customer Enablement Discussions space.
- Users on average completed the discussion categorization tasks more quickly!
- Majority of the users scored the “Tasks to do” based categories 4 out of 5.
- 80% of the users felt confident in posting questions to the correct category.
Our Action 🤸♀️
Starting September 1st, the Customer Enablement discussions space will feature 5 subcategories.
These subcategories will help Community Members in specifying their needs, interests, and connecting with others in that area of shared knowledge. We want you to share and grow your expertise!
Each category features an associated description, to better highlight what to expect:
