What is it?
SAML (Security Assertion Markup Language) is an open standard used for authentication, which enables end users to securely access one or more web applications using a single set of login credentials. This course will cover everything you'll need to know to configure, troubleshoot, cut-over, and maintain SAML Single Sign-On (SSO) between your IdP and Brightspace.
Why was this course developed?
SAML based SSO is the most often requested method for user authentication within Brightspace. Since SSO is a customer managed workflow, we built an administrative front-end to configure, troubleshoot, and maintain it. This course includes detailed instructions, screen captures, and videos of the steps required to successfully enable SAML SSO within Brightspace. The course also serves as a resource for day-to-day reference, refresher training, or to enable new staff.
Who is it for?
This course is intended for any administrative users who manage Identity and Access Management systems such as Identity Providers and will be responsible for registering and maintaining SAML SSO capabilities within Brightspace. Additionally, any administrative users who create and maintain user accounts within Brightspace, or who create login pages and maintain login workflows will find this course of interest.
How to Use It
This course can be used by those currently working through their Brightspace Implementation with their project team, those who already have SAML SSO configured but may need to perform routine maintenance, or those who are interested in transitioning from an older authentication integration.
While the course can be downloaded, it is recommended to complete the course with the Learning Center to ensure you are seeing the most up-to-date content. Since SAML Administration is an integration that receives active development, changes are documented in regular Release Notes and will be reflected in the course as needed.
