Metacognitive skills are vitally important for meaningful learning and in view of this are a core transversal skill, enabling our students for full future social and professional participation. The virtual learning environment provides a valuable conduit to influence student learning outside standard class time and hence a powerful potential mechanism to aid the development of these skills in our students.
Metacognitive Teaching and Learning Strategies is a Resource developed as part of a university wide research project exploring “Designing for Learning in the Brightspace Learning Environment,” run as part of the University College Dublin’s Fellowship in Teaching and Academic Development Programme (2019-2021).
