New Course Outlines
Free Higher Education Module Outlines to help you get building great learning material even faster!
This great, new resource has been designed for Instructors and Administrators who are currently using Brightspace. Use the outlines to quickly download a course export package that you can import into your own Learning Environment.
The Welcome Message
When you first enter the course, the Welcome Message will greet you, and help you to select the right module outline for the type of course you're building. There are three different module outlines to help you build different types of courses:
- Fact-Based (for Math and Science course types)
- Analysis-Based (for courses in the Humanities)
- Evidence-Based (for courses that may involve work placements, or the creation or learning artifacts)
Importing Your Module Outlines
The Welcome Message also contains a quick download link and tutorial video to help you access a course export package that can be imported into your own Brightspace Learning Environment (*Note you must have course editing permissions to use the course package in your own Learning Environment). Select the "Download Outlines" link in the welcome message and follow the instructions on the final page of the welcome message to set up your module outlines in your own Learning Environment.
What's Included in the Export Package?
The Course Export Package includes:
1. Three Module Outlines
- Every Module Outline contains an "Introduction to the Outline" and one week / module's structure to help you get started building your course.
- 2. HTML Templates Version 2.0.
- The templates are used to create all of the content in the course, so you get to see not only the page layouts included in the templates, but also how these can be modified for your own design needs
*Note* The export does not include the course homepage widgets. These are included in the Learning Center Course to help you navigate the materials, and can be purchased for your Learning Environment, connect with your Customer Success Manager for more information.

Although we hope to make additional improvements to the Higher Education Module Outlines in the future, at this point D2L is not committed to supporting or maintaining them. Nevertheless, we welcome your feedback and encourage you to share tips, tricks, extensions, etc., with your fellow Community members!
