As part of our ongoing effort to maintain a secure, modern, and reliable learning platform, we are announcing the End of Life (EOL) of the Payment Gateway functionality within Course Catalog.
As of April 22, 2026, Payment Gateway functionality is no longer available in Course Catalog.
Why this change is happening
The Payment Gateway tool in Course Catalog was originally designed to support eCommerce transactions directly within the catalog.
Rather than invest in maintaining legacy infrastructure for a feature that is no longer actively used, we are retiring this component and focusing our efforts on the modern eCommerce solution provided by Course Merchant.
What this means for you
If you are using Course Catalog without eCommerce enabled, no action is required. Course browsing, course detail pages, and administrative configuration for courses will continue to function as they do today.
What will change in the Course Catalog administrator interface
If you do have Payment Gateway functionality enabled, administrators will see additional eCommerce-related elements within Course Catalog, including:
- A payment configuration widget in course administration settings
- An eCommerce settings page
These elements within Course Catalog will be removed.
Looking ahead: Course Merchant
Retiring legacy payment infrastructure allows us to focus on modern, purpose-built commerce solutions like Course Merchant, while keeping Course Catalog efficient and easy to maintain.
