What’s Changing?
Specifically for client facing production instances, we will be looking to switch to a “12hr Window” for Continuous Delivery (CD) Deployments. This change will dramatically increase our DevOps teams' ability to “tune-the dials” ensuring a seamless experience for our clients as it relates to our CD Updates.
Why Change?
At current state, 99% of Brightspace instances currently receive CD Updates on a monthly basis. As our platform continues to grow, we want to ensure that we provide our users with the best experience possible. This tweak to our processes will enable us to continue to provide a great customer experience as it pertains to CD.
What does this mean for my Production Site(s)?
From a CD Deployment perspective, D2L will continue to deploy instances during off-peak hours. End users will have new versions of the LMS available to them for the same general time period.
North American Clients can expect their LMS to update between 9PM EST -> 9AM EST the next day.
EMEA Clients can expect their LMS to update between 2PM EST -> 2AM EST the next day
APAC Clients can expect their LMS to update between 9AM EST -> 9PM EST.
*all times are in EST.
From a high-level perspective, this change will allow us to scale, while providing our customers with the best experience possible. Our automated communication system will look to indicate to an Approved Support Contact of the scheduled date as expected. Clients will continue to receive the following notifications:
- Scheduled Notification
- Start Notification
- Complete Notification
As always, CD Updates will continue to operate with no customer impact. End users will be able to access your learning environment throughout the duration of the CD Update Window.
