Regarding the switching of tabs during a quiz attempt, the Attempt Logs page provides detailed information about events during a quiz attempt, including quiz entry and re-entry times, and quiz completion. When the d2l.Tools.Quizzes.ShowSessionId (OrgUnit) configuration variable is enabled, you can use the Session ID column to identify when learners have multiple sessions within a quiz attempt.

You probably want to consider using a lockdown browser option which can be integrated with D2L if your institution has subscribed to one of these services. For example, https://web.respondus.com/
