Categories and Groups

Hello,

Is it possible to add students to multiple groups and categories without altering existing groups and categories?

For example, one of our courses has various concentrations so students are categorized and grouped by this.

Some of those students are required to take a quiz based on their concentration. Can I make an additional Category with a Group of existing students who must take a quiz (the purpose is that we want to set one restriction to this quiz so only the assigned group has access to take it)?

Yes, it is possible to create new groups and categories and arrange them as desired, regardless of any pre-existing groups or categories. And it's also possible to assign special access to quizzes by groups.

Once the desired groups or categories have been created, follow these steps to grant special access to a quiz exclusively for the selected groups:

• Go to the Quizzes tool,
• Click to edit a specific quiz by expending the context menu right next to its name
• Under Availability Dates & Conditions, go to Manage Special Access
• Next, select 'Allow only users with special access to see this quiz'.
• Then, click 'Add Users to Special Access'.

Finally (See below):

1. Select to view by groups
2. Choose the desired group
3. Save

Don't forget to 'Save' before leaving the quiz editing page.
