Re: How can I book one-on-one meetings with learners using the Zoom integration?
Thanks for reaching out here at the Brightspace Community.
In my experience, setting up one zoom meeting (this generates only one meeting event - making it easier to manage) as an office hour link and enabling a waiting room can allow you to more seamlessly manage your 1-1s with students enrolled in a particular course offering. By enabling the waiting room option for the Zoom link, the meeting host can manually admit participants into the meeting per their appointment time.
Alternatively, the Zoom Help Center is your best resource for all things Zoom. Their short, modular tutorial videos and instructions are designed to help you easily find the support you’re looking for.
I hope this helps.
Re: What function do "Enrollment Options" play on the "Add Existing Users" screen?
Stefanie... Two comments on your response...
- It's great that Brightspace has a way to customize the text of a prompt. I'll pass that on to my administrators to see if they want to do that at my sight... but that will only resolve my site. User's at other sites might have the same confusion.
- The real question was not the text of the prompt, or how to enroll users as much as what do the Enrollment Options fields do on this screen? I can't figure out why the Enrollment Options fields are present, and several colleagues and I have been confused about whether to use them or not.

Ally reporting contrast issues with Brightspace
Hi,
When I run the Ally report, it shows 2 contrast issues on one of my discussion topics. They are with the light gray "Learning Objectives" and "Completion Summary" tabs. So, I cannot fix these issues. If I am logged in as a student, these tabs do not appear, so ll is well. I was told by my support staff that Ally only checks content I added. This does not seem to be the case.
Thanks,
Jim...
Ally Video Captions
Hi,
My Ally report shows two (2) videos without closed captioning. However, both the videos it flags do indeed have closed captioning. Is this a known bug?
Thanks,
Jim...

Re: How many schools/R1 schools allow athletic advisors/advisors to have access to their student's grade
This is a very interesting question!
I've been trying to look around a bit to see what information is publicly available, and what I've found so far, is in this study on Advising Student-Athletes for Success: Predicting the Academic Success and Persistence of Collegiate Student- Athletes.
It offers a recommendation that "athletic advisors should review [high school GPA] when analyzing an advisee's record to find potential impediments to academic success" - which suggests there's a broader expectation that athletic advisors have some access to grade related information- but doesn't specifically cite use of an LMS for this purpose.
That same study, goes onto suggest that "Advisors should insist on access to high school transcripts for incoming students so that they can provide academic assistance (study hall, tutors, and study skill workshops) on the basis of students' prior academic performance. Likewise, for continuing students, lack of success during the first academic year should be viewed as a red flag needing significant attention."
The focus of the study is on American Higher Education Institutions, but not specifically R1.
I'm putting your question to some colleagues to see if they have any additional information and will update this thread if I come across something else that might be handy.
Wishing you the best for a Happy New Year
-Stefanie
