Re: Attendance in Gradebooks
It's mind-boggling that in 2025 D2L doesn't do this automatically like literally every other grading platform out there. The fact that we teachers need to waste a huge amount of our time resorting to complex, labor-intensive processes just to calculate an attendance grade is inexcusable for a major educational platform.
Re: Link to the submitted assignment in 'Notification email - Assignment submission complete'
Hi Natasja,
Thank you for reaching out to us through the community!
Currently, the assignment submission completion notification email that instructors receive only includes the submission ID, course offering details, assignment information, and user details. It does not include a direct link to the user’s submission, and the terms are currently configured in the form of Text.
We have identified this as a feature request. We kindly ask that you submit this idea through the Product Idea Exchange so it can be reviewed by the product team.
We look forward to seeing your suggestion in the Product Idea Exchange.
Thank you.

Re: Browser Find function no longer works on Enter Grades page
We are K-12 and had the same question. I was directed to this discussion when I submitted a ticket. I'll share here what I responded in my ticket in hopes that D2L will reconsider this change.
None of these suggestions brings the ease of navigation up to what it was prior to last month. Using the mouse wheel is not standard behavior at our institution, and I can't even confirm that all of our mice even have a scroll wheel. Our teachers' typical workflow involves adding grades for all students to a single assignment, so reducing the number of students showing in the gradebook doesn't really address this particular pain point. Hiding/showing columns is one strategy that we've shared, but even hiding items that are not in the current unit will not reduce the list enough to make specific items easy to find. With no visual indicator of hidden columns, I can foresee that teachers will easily lose track of which items they have hidden, which will create a new source of frustration.
CTRL+F is a universal functionality in practically every browser and program that people use. Disabling/diminishing this functionality is not a positive; we would definitely like to see this functionality restored, even if it means reversing course on the February update. I don't think our teachers have found much added value even if CTRL+F wasn't an issue.
Re: Brightspace Data Sets Updates
Hi @Bruce.B.64,
Here's the issue: the 'User Login BDS' only "contains data from 1 January 2021 onwards and adheres to the default system limit of 150 million rows of the most recent data." according to D2L's docs. The 'Data Hub' page in the LE states "This data is limited to the past two calendar years." Additionally, 'user logins' does not cover Pulse access, whereas 'LastAccessed' does.
I need to know the 'FirstLogin' and 'LastAccessed' for the past 7 years due to data retention policies. Here's an example: "Find all the user accounts created more than 7 years ago, with no logins in the past 5 years."
Also, for an admin who doesn't have a database/warehouse and just needs to get a list of email addresses of any account who has accessed Brightspace in the past 6 months, this change makes that extremely frustrating (joining three data sets >40 million rows in Excel) or at best, extremely tedious (copy/paste from the LE).

Re: Community Feedback🗨️
Hi, D2L Team. 🙂
Just a little note that I was just looking up an item in the
to see when it was first identified/reported and it appears as if the one I was interested in, fixed issues list reference 02291040, was mislabeled as relating to the tool "Brightspace Parent & Guardian" when it was actually related to Intelligent Agents.
Also, the D2L Support rep referred to it by a different reference number than what I see listed—the number stated in the case communication for hotfix completion was "defect 02294327." I'm unsure whether that was a typo on their part or if the number entered in the fixed chart was muffed by mistake 🤔… or if the number goes through some other metamorphosis during it's transition from known issue 🐛 to fixed. 🦋
But thank you for fixing issues! I ❤️fixed issues!

Re: Course Selector on Minibar Settings
Hi @Alec.C.679,
This configuration variable was removed and is no longer functional per our Product team. To make Advanced Search visible in the Course Selector, a user must:
- Be enrolled in more than 25 courses, and
- Have the permission Manage Courses → See Advanced Course Search enabled for their role.
Thanks,

Bonus points for a pool
I have extra credit material for my students to review, and I have created question-pools out of that material, as I do not want all my students to have the same extra credit question. But I find that Brightspace will not allow me to make the questions in a pool for Bonus. Does anyone have a solution for that ? That is, is there a way to make pool-questions for extra credit ? Thanks. …Ok, I just saw that someone has asked this before. It seems there was no resolution to it. I do not understand the rational behind it.
How to Share A Link in Multiple Pages/Modules
Basically, same request as this one but with a link, rather than a page- I want 1 link to manage, appearing in multiple modules.
While I'm at it, maybe should be a separate question, but what is the point of the links created in the Course Admin>Links tool discussed here in the guide? It says we can use these links in the "insert stuff" tool in the editor (guide), but that doesn't really seem to work, or at least, not well in my environment; one of the links I have is cumbersome but addable, while others are completely invisible in the "insert stuff" dialog.
I would think that creating/managing links here would (also? Instead?) allow insert in a module under "existing activities", but that's not available, either. Being able to copy/paste/duplicate an existing link to another space in course builder would be another route to accomplishing my desired outcome. I'm certain there are others…
Thank you for looking.
I appreciate any pointers.
Re: Fill in the blank submission view (show correct/incorrect answers)
Hi there,
I don't think this is possible in the fill-in-the-blank question type. Unfortunately, the best way to do this is via its own question. To make it less overwhelming for your learners, you could structure your quiz to have x number of questions per page. This can make it less overwhelming, but still allows your learners to try again on the questions they got wrong.

Re: Fixed Issues List Updates
Thanks for the update! It would be helpful if the Fixed Issues List also highlighted critical fixes that might impact workflows, so teams can prioritize testing and deployment before the next hotfix day.
