Re: How to migrate announcements from Blackboard Learn to Brightspace
Hello @Peggy.R.1517, thank you so much for reaching out! And you're absolutely on the right place :) When you export your Blackboard Learn course and import it into Brightspace, the announcements will transfer over. However, the availability settings, such as start and end dates, there's a possibility that it may not carry over exactly as they were in Blackboard. Based on this documentation , the conversion and import is supported but we recommend to work with your site administration or D2L Account Manager when importing content from another LMS.
I also found a similar discussion in the community about exporting course content and I hope that you get some nuggets of information in here.

Re: Rounding to the nearest 100
From the Brightspace Question Editor documentation for the arithmetic question type (https://community.d2l.com/brightspace/kb/articles/2800-creating-question-library-questions#create-arithmetic-questions) the listed mathematical functions doesn't include a round({a}) function. You can also find the list of supported functions by selecting the ? button to the right of the formula field in the question builder.
In some situations you might be able to use the modulo operator as a work-around, but it would only work in situations where you know that the value must be rounded up, or must be rounded down.
For example, if you defined a to have a minimum of 100 and a maximum of 149, you would always be rounding down to 100 in that case. Then you can use the formula {a}-({a}%100).
Alternatively, if the variable was restricted to 250 to 299 you know that you are always rounding up to 300 in that instance, so you could use this formula {a}+(100-({a}%100)).
It wouldn't be a bad idea to request a round({a}) function through the Brightspace Product Idea Exchange (PIE) or upvote it if someone has already requested it.
Re: Rounding to the nearest 100
Hello @Joseph.C.99, it seems there isn’t any existing documentation addressing your specific question. I’d recommend raising a ticket with the D2L Support Team through your institution's helpdesk for further assistance. Please let me know if you need any help with that!

Re: Annual PD Training Course - Best way to set it up
May or may not work for you, and there might be better ways of doing this, but my team does have some training courses that need to be re-assessed each year and here's what we do within the Brightspace LMS:
- Set up a course with content. The content is updated throughout the year as needed. I'm not aware of any way to delete the user progress through the content topics that they have already visited.
- We have a quiz set-up to assess that staff have achieved an understanding of the content. Each year we duplicate the quiz (and modify questions if necessary) to start fresh. We then set the previous quiz to inactive.
- We use the Brightspace Awards system to create a certificate that is achieved when a user completes the quiz with a passing grade (whatever that may be). From the Awards we can retrieve the certificate for any completed staff members and save it as evidence of completion, if needed.
- We also set-up an intelligent agent in the course to periodically run that does not send an email, it just identifies users in the course that have not completed the quiz. This is handy for our administration to refer to in order to identify which staff members still need to complete the training. From there they can decide whether to reach out or not.
Re: Downloading marked rubrics and inline comments + marking PowerPoint presentations
Hi Sue.S,
1a. Yes, you can annotate the submission with the tools available. Thereafter you have 2 options: Download Original or Download Annotations. If you Download Original - you are downloading the original .pptx file submission without annotations. If you Download Annotations - you are downloading a .pdf version of the submission with annotations intact. You can then email the .pdf file to group members.
1b. Learners can access the rubric when viewing their assessment feedback. For those learners who cannot view the rubric evaluation you can navigate to the submission evaluation, and select the 'expand/pop-out' icon as circled in red. You can then print the rubric evaluation and send onto other group members.
2. Unfortunately, the only way to see the slide notes is to download the original presentation and review. Alternatively, have students make a submission using the Notes Pages Print Layout in PowerPoint. This second file submission could be a .pdf document.
The idea to see the slide notes in the evaluation view is a good one, please consider making a submission into the Product Idea Exchange for review and consideration.
Hope that helps!
Re: Setting up a cookies banner - to get user consent for Google Analytics
Hello @Christina.T.727, thanks for reaching out! I also checked existing documentation and it seems that the cookies consent banner tool is currently not available on Brightspace at this time.
While this functionality is not yet available, we think that it's a good idea to have one! We really value feedback like this from our clients and would be grateful for you to submit an idea within our Product Idea Exchange. You can access through the Quick Links widget found on the main homepage of the Community.

Re: Can a super admin disable the "Import from file" option for creating in-course Learning Outcomes?
Hi Mayra!
Thank you for reaching out to us with your question about Managing Outcomes.
Currently, there are no permissions to limit the 'Import a File' feature specifically under Outcomes.
Please let us know if you have any follow-up questions.
Kind Regards,

Re: no 'start quiz' button
Hello @Charmaine.P.705
Thank you for connecting with us!
The absence of a start quiz button for a student could be indicative of the student either
- Has already made the maximum attempt allowed on the quiz and thus not able to retake the quiz again
- The time window in which the quiz was allowed for the student has already elapsed
I would recommend first checking the quiz attempts for the student, in order to do this
- Go to the quiz tool
- Click on the dropdown arrow of the designated quiz shell, followed by the grade button
- Search for the user in question to confirm if they have an attempt or not. The following KB article also has more information on how to navigate to this page:
The second option would be to check for the quiz start/end availability times, in order to do this
- Go to the quiz tool
- Click on the dropdown arrow of the designated quiz shell, followed by the edit button
- Click on the availability and Dates tab, and ensure the timeframe (Start/End dates) is set to one where the student can make an attempt on the quiz
- Furthermore, you can also check the special access tab to confirm if the student has special access to the quiz and ensure the timeframe provided through special access has not elapsed, please find attached some relevant KB articles on this :
Re: Can I make surveys worth 1 point?
@Kevin.W.490 Surveys cannot be associated with a grade item, but you can do this with quizzes. Add a mandatory multiple choice question that is worth 1 point, and set the custom weights on each answer choice to 100%. No matter what the student responds, they will receive 1 point for that question. Then any other questions can be set as bonus questions so the maximum points will remain at 1. Make sure not to check Can Exceed on the grade item so students who take the quiz will receive 1/1 (regardless of how they answer the questions.)
