Annual PD Training Course - Best way to set it up

One of our departments is looking to set up a mandatory professional learning course in the HUB with the following requirements:

"I’m hoping that everyone can do all of the lessons at least once and then on an annual basis, since completing all of the lessons does take some time, I’d like to have the option to rotate the lessons as refreshers understanding time limitations for PD with some of our staff groups."

The course would require annual completion tracking for our staff.

I know we can create a new course every year and track annual completion that way, but we're hoping to have just the one standalone course that could be reused every year with the content updated as needed. Is it possible to reset their previous progress in the course so that we can track whether they completed the course every year? Or maybe there's other options catered towards PD for K-12 systems that I just don't have access to?

May or may not work for you, and there might be better ways of doing this, but my team does have some training courses that need to be re-assessed each year and here's what we do within the Brightspace LMS:

    1. Set up a course with content. The content is updated throughout the year as needed. I'm not aware of any way to delete the user progress through the content topics that they have already visited.
    2. We have a quiz set-up to assess that staff have achieved an understanding of the content. Each year we duplicate the quiz (and modify questions if necessary) to start fresh. We then set the previous quiz to inactive.
    3. We use the Brightspace Awards system to create a certificate that is achieved when a user completes the quiz with a passing grade (whatever that may be). From the Awards we can retrieve the certificate for any completed staff members and save it as evidence of completion, if needed.
    4. We also set-up an intelligent agent in the course to periodically run that does not send an email, it just identifies users in the course that have not completed the quiz. This is handy for our administration to refer to in order to identify which staff members still need to complete the training. From there they can decide whether to reach out or not.

    Hi Ron.W.451,

We were also looking into that method (re-create quiz with a new reward) but I know the user that was requesting this new course was hoping to lock the quiz behind a conditional release upon completing/re-completing the content.

Thanks for the insight and outlining the process you use though, the information is really helpful and I'm sure it will be beneficial to others in the same situation as us (and will most likely end up being our plan if the completion tracking can't be modified/no other tool exists)
