Re: Manual completion Tracking - New Learner experience
Hello! The setting for manual completion is on the content topics themselves. The course-level setting only indicates how to tell if the course is complete (all topics complete or something else.)
You can turn this on for lots of courses in one go, using: d2l.Tools.Content.ContentCompletionType ( OrgUnit ), but it will only affect new topics created. I think that if you want to switch existing topics, you'll need to reach out to either your TAM or Support.
The VTOC widget will reflect whichever completion is done. It only knows if the topic is complete or not, it doesn't know how it gets there.
Re: How do you set up a pass mark for a quiz
Hi @Debbie.T.406 ,
Thank you for reaching Brightspace Community!
If you are using points/percentage grade scheme the color is not editable and classified as below:
0-49% Red
50-69% Orange
70-79% Yellow
80-89% Green
90-100% Blue
You can learn more about Grade Schemes generally from this community article:
Else you may use Symbol Grade Scheme ( Pass/Fail, A,B,C, etc) using the coloring scheme as you need :
Hope this helps!

Heba
Re: Content Progress
Hello @Elaine.C.420 thank you for your question.
Due to multiple browser configurations and use cases, tracking the time spent viewing content in Brightspace is a best estimate. For example, the following can contribute to inaccurate time tracking: running an aggressive ad-blocker, opening content in another browser tab, downloading the content/viewing it locally, or losing an internet connection while viewing content in a browser.
Tracking the time spent viewing content is useful as a diagnostic tool for an instructor to start a conversation with a learner; however, D2L does not recommend using it as an assessment tool.
Please check our article for more details about Content Progress Tool:
Please let me know if you have any questions.
Thanks,
Daiana
Re: Where are the new question types?
Hey Mike! We have plans, but nothing public yet. Please keep an eye on the Public Roadmap for any updates there.
Re: Updating grades with Postman
Hello,
For PUT /d2l/api/le/(version)/(orgUnitId)/grades/(gradeObjectId)/values/(userId)
The body should be:
{
"Comments": {
"Content": "Words go here",
"Type": "Text"
},
"PrivateComments": {
"Content": "Words go here",
"Type": "Text"
},
"GradeObjectType": 1, // This is for numeric
"PointsNumerator": {{points}} // The number of points
}
Let me know if this works for you.
Best,
Andrea
Re: Quiz Attempt Log
Hi Elaine.C,
Best to have your institutions learning administration/support team open a support case with the D2L Support team. They will be able to review the quiz attempt log for the quiz and investigate the issue experienced.
Hope that helps!
Re: Tracking students' quiz progress by referring to the orange notifications on the Grades page?
@Yi Yan.L.782 Hi Yi Yan,
Thank you for reaching out to us on the Community site.
I have further checked the behavior you reported, where lecturers at your site are no longer able to see the orange dot appear for an in-progress quiz attempt in the Gradebook. I found that it is a known issue and a defect from v20.24.10 onwards.
The defect is registered as 02092465>Grades> 20.24.10.20212 > Red Dot indicator showing quiz in progress not appearing in the Grades tab
I apologize for the issue and any inconvenience this has caused you and the lecturers
Regards,
Nik
Re: how do i get an embedded object that has the bottom 'check' button cut off to display?
If you just want blank space, following the iframe in the HTML, you can just add a paragraph with a space <p> </p>, Adding the " " is just a "space" in html code so it forces it to be there. Otherwise if you just had a <p> </p> the page would ignore the space since there's nothing else around it.

Re: Code Blocks with Copy Button
Hello Arman,
Thank you for your question!
Currently, Brightspace’s built-in Code Blocks in the Editor do not include a built-in copy button for copying code directly to the clipboard. This is by design, as the focus has been primarily on displaying code snippets for readability and formatting purposes.
However, I completely agree that adding an optional copy button could be a very useful feature, especially for those who work with HTML or other code snippets regularly in their courses. This would allow users to quickly copy and paste code, improving efficiency when embedding HTML or sharing reusable code snippets.
If you feel this would enhance your experience and benefit others, I recommend submitting this as a feature request through the Product Idea Exchange (PIE) on the Brightspace Community. The D2L development team regularly reviews such requests to prioritize new functionality based on user feedback.
Let me know if you’d like help with submitting a feature request or any other questions!
Kind regards,
Miguel
Re: What is the banner size to the awards verification public link
Hello @Laz.T.503
Thank you for reaching out to the Brightspace Community.
While the display size for the banner is 1170 by 200 pixels, it is recommended that the image you upload is 2400 by 960 pixels to ensure that the image you select displays clearly for all these scenarios. Images are automatically resized for the appropriate location and display.
Thank you,
Camila
