Re: Insight Portal
Hi Andy,
I believe the Adoption Dashboard is what you are looking for. This dashboard provides visualizations to help administrators understand how users in their organization adopt Brightspace.
See
The product blog at also highlights how you can use the Advanced Brightspace Datasets and Excel to achieve a similar result.
Hope that helps.
Re: how to handle late penalty
I agree. I am very tired of having to calculate all my own late penalties when Canvas can do it automatically.
Re: how to handle late penalty
there have been requests on this forum for automatic penalty for years, it is not something a learning platform in 21st century would have difficulty implementing, but they still don't have that feature.
Re: IOS ipad & Apple Pencil Grading Capabilities?
I also find it frustrating that there is no grading app for instructors. I used Speedgrader on Canvas and it made grading much easier for me. I've tried using the Apple pencil to grade the website on D2L on my iPad and the responsiveness isn't good—it looks like a 4 year old's writing, so I had to give up.
Re: SMS Notifications Issue
Thanks for your question @Ricardo.M.8836 . I'm connecting you with our documentation for configuring push notifications, in case it's handy. If you have reviewed the documentation and are still having issues, I recommend you create a support ticket so that our IT folks can take a closer look at what may be causing this within your instance.
customizing the Units in NCE
Hello,
We received the custom colors update for the New Content Experience and while faculty are happy to customize the colors, many aren't too happy about the change of the look of the modules.
The color of the Units and Lessons are just a sliver of the module buttons, and in an all white screen the colors barely stand out. I've attached images of the updated version and the older version.
Is there a way we can have a choice in how the module buttons look to revert it back to the old look?
As a campus, we invested a lot of time updating courses to the NCE for the modern look, ease of navigation and readability, but now those arguments don't hold up as much since some find the lack of color to hinder readability and ease of navigation.
Re: Brightspace Data Sets Updates
Hi Lisa,
This really is not a one-size-fits-all solution — so much depends on how Colleges have deployed their Brightspace environments, how much Faculty Development has focused on report LDA, and most critically, how the College has defined LDA vis-a-vis institutional learning environment use policies and Registrar reporting requirements.
Start with existing practices — usually in the Registrar's office, and engage with the Faculty Development folks as to how the institution is currently solving this question, and look for avenues of improvement.

(p.s. This would be an excellent topic for its own discussion thread. This thread exists primarily for folks to "follow" for "when new Brightspace Data Sets updates are announced in Keeping on top of Brightspace Data Sets updates." )
Re: Counseling Skills
Hi Edwin,
Please make contact with your institutions learning administration team. They are best suited to help you out with this query.
Hope that helps!
Re: Fusion Workshop: Unpanelling Leadership- Women, Identity and Building Strong Networks
- Being able to identify your strengths is an important first step
- Our perception of who we are may change as we grow
- It may take time to learn to trust yourself and to feel comfortable leaning into your authentic self
For those in other groups who I was not able to connect with, I want to leave you with the question I asked of my groups. This question is from author/speaker, Jo Saxton from her book The Joy of Being You:
Who were you before others told you who you should be?
Re: Fusion Workshop: Unpanelling Leadership- Women, Identity and Building Strong Networks
Thank you to Cristi and everyone for the Connected Women track at the Fusion conference - this session and the ability to connect with so many amazing people at the conference was great! I wanted to share some of the comments I remember from the discussion question I brought to each group, which was #4 above, "Effective networks are a two-way street. When have you offered support to another woman-identifying leader in your network? How did that experience benefit both of you? ."
Some of the responses I heard were:
- Various versions of making introductions of that person and sharing what their unique assets are
- Saying their name, especially when they are not in the room, and calling out their contributions so that they are known to more people
- When onboarding them, make sure they get to meet all of the key people the need to know to be successful
- 1:1 peer coaching to be a sounding board and provide advice/guidance in a safe space
- Connecting with a network of women outside of your organization to bounce ideas off, get different perspectives, etc.
I am sure my memory is forgetting some other great responses I heard, and there were four groups I did not get to meet with, so I invite others to share their responses here.
