Critical Assessments/Conditional Grading

Hello. I use weighted grading in all my courses, and I want to continue doing so, but it appears that there is no way to set a minimum threshold for an assessment category as a condition for other grade items to be counted. We would like to make a passing exam average a requirement for other items to count, but when I switch to "Formula" for final grade calculation, I am forced to switch to points for my assessment items. Complicating it further, I am not allowed to select whole grade categories in the formula editor, so if I develop a formula, it is not future proof or multi-course compatible without manually adding each grade item to the formula. I think it would benefit many instructors to have the option to have critical assessments/conditional grading without needing to use the formula editor.

I have reviewed your request and confirmed that this is currently a product limitation. At present, Brightspace does not support using Grade Categories as release condition criteria, nor does it allow Grade Categories to be referenced within Formula Grade Items.

However, I found the following Product Idea Exchange submissions that align with the functionality you are requesting:
