Can Brightspace let learners retake a quiz with new questions instead of the ones they got wrong?

I'm setting up a quiz where a learner has to get 100% score in a single attempt in order to pass.
If the learner fails at the attempt, the learner can re-attempt the quiz but the incorrect question has to be different.

Is this currently available with Brightspace?

To my understanding, reattempt only incorrect questions will just show the same question.

  • Hi there!

Have you tried out question pools? I think this will accomplish what you're looking for.

    Hi Jenn,

Appreciate your suggestion, but it doesn't seem to be the case yet. I'll provide more context below, so please feel free to continue the conversation a bit further here with me and see if there's anything I missed out.

What I'm trying to achieve is as follows:

Assuming this is the quiz setup - I have 10 questions in a question pool, and 3 questions are randomly pulled for a quiz. Shuffling is on. The quiz also allows for multiple attempts, and has the setting on for "retake incorrect questions only".

    Current brightspace experience:
Attempt #1 - My learner attempts the quiz, Q1, Q4 & Q5 were displayed. My learner got Q1 and Q4 correct, but got Q5 wrong.
Attempt #2 - On his second attempt, Q5 would remain, and my learner would only have to answer Q5.

I'm seeking a way to set up a quiz such that if my learner had answered a question incorrectly, the incorrect question would be shelved and the learner would have to answer other questions (e.g. Q2, Q3, Q6 etc) on his subsequent attempts instead. Any idea if this is achievable with Brightspace?

  • Hello Yi Yan.L.782,

Thank you for providing more information.

I looked into this further, and at the moment, learners can’t retake a quiz with new questions instead of the ones they got wrong

The current behavior for retaking incorrect quiz questions in subsequent attempts is described in the following article: Retake incorrect quiz questions in subsequent attempts - Brightspace
