Is there a way for students to be automatically notified if there is new assignment?

Hi,

I have a quick question regarding assignment creation in Brightspace. When I add and save a new assignment in a course, is there a way for students enrolled in that course to automatically receive a notification—either through email, or in-platform alerts—without me having to create a separate announcement?

I want to make sure students are immediately informed once an assignment is posted, so they don’t miss any requirements or deadlines. If automatic notifications are possible, could you let me know how to enable or configure that setting?

Hi Eunice,

The students have the option to select if they want to receive notifications when the assignment due date or end date is 2 days away. This can be done by clicking their Profile and selecting Notifications.

Additionally, they have the option to receive a notification when a new content item is created. This way, if you create a new Content Item with the Assignment, they will also receive the notification.

If you believe that receiving the notification 2 days before the due date or end date is insufficient, or you prefer not to create a new Content Item, then your best option is to create an announcement, as you've been doing.
