Release Conditions for Categories (Assignments and Quizzes)

I can set release conditions for grade item categories and discussion forums - is it possible to do the same for assignment categories and discussion categories?

I have a course that is designed for multiple types of users and I want them to see only the assignments, quizzes, discussions, and grades that are relevant to them. I can easily assign release conditions for discussion forums and grade categories, but this feature does not seem to be available for assignments or quizzes.

Adding release conditions to each individual assignment and quiz is possible, but very time consuming.

How many types of users are you dealing with?

As far as I know, the only options to do what you're trying to achieve is to bear with the time-consuming granularity of adding release conditions to each individual assignment and quiz, or to delve into the possibility of using groups or sections. Either way, it will still take a significant time investment. If the course isn't a short-lived one-off, the time investment may be worthwhile.
