Students who do not attempt a quiz -- can't publish feedback? can they see their score of zero?

Hi Emerson,
What students see depends in how you have your grades set up.
If a student does not submit a quiz, and therefore does not have a grade, there are two options that you can pick from when you are setting up your grades:
- Drop ungraded items: Items that are not graded will not count towards the final grade.
- Treat ungraded items as 0: Items that do not have a grade inputted are counted as 0 in the final grade.
If you selected "Drop ungraded items" and you did not go into the grades tool and manually assign them a zero, they will see nothing for that quiz grade, and that quiz grade will not be counted against their final grade.
If you selected "Treat ungraded items as 0," they will see a zero.
Yes, you can assign them a zero by manually entering a zero of the quiz in the grades tool.
Auto-Zeroing is on our Product Roadmap, so you will no longer have to enter manually enter the zeros very shortly!
Best,
Andrea

Thanks very much Andrea. How do I send the student Feedback on the fact that they failed to submit? Do I have to use another tool?
My class has hundreds of students, and so there will often be several dozen who did not attempt a quiz. Thanks again.

You can also enter the feedback in the Grades tool.
You will click on the drop-down menu beside the column title, and click Enter Grades.
Then, sort the grade column so the 0/empty grades are on the top of the list. Then, select all the students who have the 0/empty grade and click Add Feedback
Add your feedback and click Save.
Then, click Save and Close.
Hope this helps!
Once the auto-zeroing comes out within the next couple months, the adding the zeros after the due date has passed will not be needed, so that will save you some steps.
