How do I make Groups viewable by students?

Hello Ralph, have you added the Groups tool to your course navigation bar? Students should be able to navigate to the Groups tool and see which groups they are enrolled in from that navbar link.

There is some handy information on how to set up groups and the permission sets associated with groups here: About groups and sections.

Hi Ralph
Welcome to the Brightspace Community and thanks for your question!
Students can see what groups and sections they (and other students) are members of by accessing the Classlist tool (usually accessible from the course navbar). See
for details.Note: The Classlist tool must have been added to the course navbar (see the
article for details) and the Student role must have been granted the Has Access to the Classlist permission for the Classlist tool at the course offering level ( ). These settings may only be configurable by someone assigned the administrator role.To view the classlist by group (or section), students click the View By drop-down list, select Groups, and then click Apply. They can then further filter the view by group names by clicking the Groups drop-down list, selecting a group and then clicking Apply. Students can view all the groups and group members for all students (and instructors) in the course offering.
When students access the Discussions or Assignments tools, they will not see a list of the group members, but will see the group discussion(s) and assignment(s) for the group(s) to which they belong, as shown in the images below.
Hope this clarifies it for you! Let us know if you have any further questions or need further clarification.
Kind regards
