Re: Indirect to direct login
Hello Ellie, I'm sorry to hear that your portal is down! There are ways to configure multiple SSO implementations for the same Brightspace org. An alternative is to leverage Brightspace local login. However, these would need to be options explored by your Admins and D2L support.
I would suggest connecting with your school's IT Help Desk to have them connect with your D2L support team to work around this!
Re: Inline Images
@Karen.M.70 You'll have to update the CSS styles in the source code on the image. Add the styles float and margin and specify right or left and how much of a margin you want to set the image away from the text. Here's an example when adding an image from the editor and manually updating the style attributes (leave alt text empty if it's a decorative image):
<img src="CoursePath/image.png" alt="" data-d2l-editor-default-img-style="true" style="float: right; margin: 15px; max-width: 100%;">
API doesn't bring in User and Org Units deletion data
I was expecting these changes to flow through the below Brightspace differential datasets
- Users Differential
- Organizational Units Differential
The additions and updates did flow in as expected from the API response, but for users there was no deletion record, and for units the deleted org.unit did come in but is still marked as (IsDeleted = False)
Why is this happening, how can I fix it?
Notifications within Portfolio Tool
Hi everyone,
My question is about the portfolio resource which is wonderful; however, our team has faced various issues resulting in significant extra work. I have already asked several questions on the Portfolio tool. Here is another one:
Is there any notification system within portfolio that could inform a teacher when her students add their evidence/work on the portfolio?
Is there notification system within portfolio that could inform the learners when their teacher provides feedback on their work/evidence?
Re: [Brightspace Admins] Are there any concerns with creating too many roles?
Great question. As a general principle, the best thing is to have only as many roles as you actually need. That's to say: only make a new role if you are sure that it needs different permissions to an existing role.
The main reasons for this are:
- Each role has interactions with every other role. The more roles you have, the more you have to check that each role has the right permissions in relation to other roles. (For example, whether one role can see another role in the classlist, and so on).
- The more roles you have, the more work is required to ensure that permissions are consistent across similar types of role. For example, if there are several learner-type roles, and you make a permission change to one of them, you'd have to keep on top of whether or not the other learner roles should also be updated.
One of the main pieces of advice I'd give is to document what the purpose of each role is, so that it's clear for you and anyone else who administers them in the future. You can use the description field in the role settings for this, as a brief summary.
Dropbox files changing format of student papers
I am sure this causes no end of issues when grading and frustration to students who take the time to do the correct formatting only to have the system change what I see as the instructor.
Dropbox files sync
I insert lots of dropbox links in content. It has been working fine up until recently when files (PPT, Word docs, etc.) have not been updating on Brightspace content as I make changes to them as they used to. I find my self having to relink when it is really the same file and link except I have made a slight change to the PPT.
Re: has anyone experienced an issue where the webex office hours do not display for all students?
thanks! we think the issue may be resolved , it's working as expected now. We think adjusting the hours and then not clicking apply or save was causing this 'please wait…' message to appear
