Throw out a quiz question
Hi All,
Got a question the other day about quizzes from an instructor. He realized after students submitted and had graded a quiz he created that there was a question that could have been misinterpreted by students, leading some to get the incorrect answer.
I showed him how to edit the question so that all students in the class got full credit for the question no matter what they answered. However, he was more interested in throwing out or exempting the question for everybody. So for example instead of a student originally getting 8 out of 1 0 questions right for a grade of 80%, they now received 8 out of 9 correct, for 88% grade.
Is there a way in Brightspace to completely throw out a question like that and have grades update? Can it be toggled as a bonus after the fact?
Thank you in advance for your help.
Re: D2L API - OAuth2.0 isn't working as expected.
Note: This thread references the Learning Postman with Paul course article, which has been deprecated and is no longer available in the Learning Center.
Hi Dhruv,
The following resource has some video walkthroughs of using Postman covering the authentication steps, getting an access and refresh token etc.
The videos also reference the please ensure you are using these initially at least as they will help speed up the process (if you are not already using them).
Hope that helps!
Imposing a file size limit
I'm sure I remember there being a file size cap that instructors could implement on assignment folders, but that option no longer seems to be available.
I would like to impose a file size cap of 100 MB on submissions, because in my experience, anything larger than that results in an extremely slow and inefficient grading experience.
Question on data reported for feedback read
Hi!
We recently were looking at the "FeedbackIsRead" column in the data report "Assignment submissions" and we've noticed some issues with the way the data is collected for feedback. If a user views their overall feedback from the Gradebook, this doesn't count as "read". Additionally, if there is inline marks that the student accesses by clicking the "View inline feedback" from within the gradebook, this also isn't counted as "read". This latter item is especially odd as this link opens up the feedback area in the assignment — the same view that the student sees if they view feedback from the assignments link rather than the gradebook link.
My question for the group is therefore has anyone found any way to accurately determine if a student has read feedback? We're looking to see if we can get an idea of actual student review of the feedback, and also compare that to attainment/retention to see if we can make any concrete links within our institution/in specific divisions/departments. If anyone has any tips for how to go about this, that would be much appreciated!
Best,
Laura
Re: Students' Survey/Quiz Responses
Hi Alex, thanks for your reply. I am looking for the students' responses/answers to the quiz and survey questions (i.e. which answers they selected from the multiple choice questions).
Re: Can you award certificates for individual courses then use the certificates to earn an award?
Hello @Jane.P.487 ,
Thank you for contacting us via Brightspace Community!
Currently, we do not have this functionality; however, there is a feature request for this in our Product Idea Exchange. I would recommend that to upvote this if you would like to see this feature added to the future release.
Here is the Link to the Feature Request.
Should you have any questions or concerns please do not hesitate to contact.
Thanks,
Bharti

Re: Assignment Submissions - "This File Can't Be Previewed" Issue
Hi Paul!
I thought I'd answer this one here, based on the reply from Support, to close the loop in case anybody else searches for something similar. Unless Bongo Video Assignments is used, it's expected functionality that you'd need to download the submitted video file in order to view it. Support suggested opening a PIE item for this functionality. I've had a quick search for you, and couldn't find a similar one that already exists, so you could go ahead and create a new PIE item.
