Re: My objective is to modify or alter the content pages so that the students can complete tasks directl
Hi @Joe.M.742
There are some really cool things you can do in Brightspace to jazz up the presentation of learning material!
Many schools will offer a tool called Creator+ which makes it easy to add activities, and style to your learning material.
This article provides some more information on what Creator+ is and connects you with a course where you can see how it works and how it looks if you give it a try. This tool allows you to create formative learning activities that can be completed directly on the learning material content page (these are often referred to as "Practices")
Sometimes other Educators will share back what they're doing with Brightspace and there are a few examples I can show you like this one which includes ideas for activities you can add to Brightspace without Creator+, like wordle style activities and other fun games
Let me know if this is the kind of thing you're looking for, or if I've missed the mark.
Grateful to have you here in the Community and to be learning through your question!
Re: Grades displaying "days late" messages for items from Assignments
Is there a way to automatically apply a late penalty to quizzes submitted late? We use 5% per day in our department.
Thanks for your help, Jeff
Re: Product Idea Exchange (PIE)
Could you make the profile pictures bigger? They are so small it doesn't do a good job of allowing instructors to learn student's faces. Also, students who take a selfie often have to lower the quality to get it in the small file size requirement. There is no need to have it be that small anymore.
Re: Where can we see the current roadmap
Hi @Mike.B.559
You are indeed seeing the Roadmap for 2024. I believe that as a company D2L reports on Fiscal Years of Operation (25 years young! woohoo!) This is the reason it appears as FY25. I'll share this feedback with our Product Team, to see if there are some options to change up the labels on the columns of the roadmap.
On the Product Focus page, were you hoping to find more information about Beta Programs specifically?
The Product Roadmap Discussion is closed in the hopes that we can better triage related questions through forums like this or in PIE.
That documentation on Beta Programs does require and edit to reflect that closed status- appreciate the catch and note on that!
Re: User progress
@Asma.K.162 Great question!
Currently there isn't a way to reset a user's user progress for an entire course. When a user is unenrolled from a course, all the progress data isn't deleted or anything, it's just hidden until you enroll them back in. To be able to re-complete an entire Course Offering, your best bet would be to make a copy of the Course Offering for the user to complete it again.
We've had some other D2L clients ask for this recently though, if you want to check out the PIE and look for idea D9879 or similar, give them an upvote!
Hope that helps!
-Johnny
Re: Elementary question...
@Rob.P.213 You can personalize D2L for learners (such as displaying their first name on the homepage) with replace strings using curly brackets.
Is there anything not available in the New Content Experience?
Re: Shuffling questions in a section
Hello @Mark.K.307!
To shuffle only the question which are under one of your quiz section, you can navigate to the "Edit Quiz" menu for your quiz and click on the Section itself you'd like to shuffle.
In the "Edit Section" dialog which will open, you'll have the option to select: "Shuffle questions in this section".
Here's a screenshot taken from our Manage quiz questions community article showing where the "Shuffle questions in this section" will be displayed.
To ensure that questions are only shuffled in this section - and not across the entire quiz, I would recommend ensuring that the option to shuffle all questions under "Timing & Display" is left unchecked.
I hope this helped! Please to let us know if there's anything I should clarify with my answer above.
Re: Intelligent agents at a global level
Hi Heather,
We use a fair number of "global" intelligent agents at our institution. We set them in the agent list for the main OU. Our primary way of using them is automatically enroll users in a variety of courses or groups. All teachers, for example, get enrolled into a community site in the LMS as their accounts are added to it. They then get a welcome message.
We also use them to look at students enrolled in one course and then enroll them in another. One of our nursing courses, for example, wants all of their students to have access to a course our library put together on APA formatting. For cases like this, we set the agents to run daily through our census period.
The condition you're looking for is the Classlist > Org Unit Enrollment condition. The only downside that we've found I that you need to include specific courses. For our nursing course scenario above, if there are three sections, then we need to add all three to the agent. We update the agent each term that the courses are offered.
Hope this helps.
Re: Intelligent agents at a global level
Hi Heather,
A couple of options for you below:
- At this point there is no global intelligent agent functionality. However, you are able to copy Intelligent Agents from one course offering/course template to another. You could create a course offering with all the IA's required therein and have those available to be copied into a course offering by the Instructor or as part of the course creation process.
- Learners can enable/disable notifications on their own account as necessary. The following resource highlights how this is achieved. See Another option is to create a group in every course offering into which all users are enrolled. Group membership can be added as a release condition to the IA. If a user wants to unsubscribe they notify the instructor who intern removes them from the group.
Hope this helps!
