Re: What is the banner size to the awards verification public link
Hello @Laz.T.503
Thank you for reaching out to the Brightspace Community.
While the display size for the banner is 1170 by 200 pixels, it is recommended that the image you upload is 2400 by 960 pixels to ensure that the image you select displays clearly for all these scenarios. Images are automatically resized for the appropriate location and display.
Thank you,
Camila
Re: What suggestions do you have for a Brightspace Kickoff event?
We broke it up with breaks and Lunch so the kick off was at 10 and we finished at 4 so that it wouldn't be the whole day. We did get a lot of feedback that staff appreciated the day being focussed on just the new VLE and that we had time for Q&A.
We also followed/following this up throughout the year with something we call "mini-bites" where we do 30-45 minute sessions focussing on one tool in Brightspace like Intelligent Agents, Quizzes, or Class Progress to give these tools a spotlight throughout the year and to give staff a chance to ask questions. This helps us catch new starts too.
Re: What suggestions do you have for a Brightspace Kickoff event?
At North East Scotland College we had a training day for our staff that was all things Brightspace. We had training on the site with Badges and a certificate and encouraged teams to get competitive with each other to be the first in their curriculum team to complete the training. We then created a summary to thank staff for joining us on the day. https://www.canva.com/design/DAF7kED7Pro/P89IBqkCfIi7RL8lAtd1qA/watch?utm_content=DAF7kED7Pro&utm_campaign=designshare&utm_medium=link&utm_source=editor
We also had our Student portal move from MyDay to Brightspace and in partnership with our student presidents to introduce the new student information portal we created a Scavenger hunt with QR codes that took the students to the pages and gave them an award (Badge) for completing the scavenger hunt. These might not be appropriate but some ideas to help you get started.
Re: Why don't I have any messages in my brightspace email
You should check what your notifications have been set to in your named area in the top right hand corner of Brightspace.
Under the notifications area you can then check to see what your email settings have been set to and change the options to make suree you are recieiving them

Re: how to handle late penalty
there have been requests on this forum for automatic penalty for years, it is not something a learning platform in 21st century would have difficulty implementing, but they still don't have that feature.
Re: how to handle late penalty
I agree. I am very tired of having to calculate all my own late penalties when Canvas can do it automatically.
Re: how to handle late penalty
This is a significant limitation of D2L that I just discovered. I know other systems allow automatic grade reductions based on how late an assignment or quiz is.
Re: how to handle late penalty
I would really like to see an automatic late penalty option added, but when I try to follow the link to vote for it, I get a log in prompt and cannot log in. I don't get an option to register and when I click the only option available (reset password), I get an error message. How do I access the ideas page to vote for features???
Re: how to handle late penalty
Hi Roy,
The system doesn't currently have anything in place to automatically deduct a late penalty on a quiz. It will tell you how late the quiz is though so you can use your best judgement in deducting points.
