Release Condition based on Calculated Grade Item
I'm trying to set a release condition so that the next unit would open when the average score on the previous unit is a certain percentage. I don't see a way to do this? I have created a calculated grade item for the unit, and have release conditions on each assignment so they must complete each to move on. I know I would need to have the release condition be that they have completed the last grade item,as the calculated average is running and would show even if not all the work was complete, AND the calculated average is X%. I don't see a way to do the latter? Is it possible? Thanks!
Bulk uploading Certifications
I have a lot of certifications for about 1000 students. These certifications were earned through another organization. Is there any way to bulk upload certificates into DropBox to attach the certificates to the learner's profile in a course?
Has anyone had success connecting GitHub Classroom's LIT with D2L?
I've already accessed the GitHub Education page that guides the setup process ( ), but I was not successful. I would like to know if anyone has succeeded, so that they can guide me. Tks!
Re: D2L is Reheating PIE!
I understand the value of decluttering the PIE. I do. There’s just so much content that it becomes unmanageable. Loads of good ideas but it’s just too hard to find them amidst all the piles and piles of other stuff. So decluttering makes sense.
But what also needs to be acknowledged in this Marie Kondo-ing of the PIE is that, alongside these “Not Planned” ideas that are not being migrated, you will find communities of users who have grown up around them. Micro-communities…along with related links, dialogue, workarounds, and other valuable interactions. And, while the idea may persist in an offline D2L archive, the community will no longer be accessible to the users who built it. And this I consider to be a significant loss…especially for long-standing ideas (many dating back more than a decade) that are heavily supported vote-wise but have been marked as “Not Planned.”
A great example of this is the idea of connecting attendance to grading (now marked as "Not Planned"). Dating back to 2013, this idea (and related ideas) has significant support, all of which will vanish on the new PIE. Does this mean that newcomers will propose it all over again without realizing that this backstory ever existed?

I also want to mention how much I value the community that has grown up over the past three years on BrightSpace quizzes in need of critical updates (D9656) with 244 votes.
Honestly, the prospect of restarting these communities from scratch on the new PIE feels overwhelming.
Re: Discussions API Issue: Unable to create a topic under forums ?
Hello!
I believe the issue is your "Description" value. The format you are attempting to use is what the GET call returns but it's not what the POST call requires.
Whenever you see a { composite:RichTextInput } field in a JSON example, that stands in for a composite block like this:
{
"Content": <string>,
"Type": "Text|Html"
}
So I believe you would want to try something like:
{
"Content": "<p>Forum description 2</p>",
"Type": "Html"
}
Re: Is there a way to create a checklist an instructor can complete in a course?
Is there an answer to this question? We are trying to do something similar where we don't need the student to check it off, we need the instructor to be able to do it. For example, we have some self-paced learning that the student does on their own, but there's an in-class component to the course as well. We'd like to make it possible for the instructor or admin to go into that course and have an item they can check (checkbox) that confirms they have completed the in-class portion of the course as well.
The item would be as simple as:
The student has completed the in-class portion of this course [ checkbox ]
And that checkbox would be required to consider the course fully complete.
Re: Brightspace Data Sets Updates
@Randall.S.394,
Thank you for the idea. This does help to address the first example of "which user accounts have logged in within the past 6 months." However, I have to download a 5MB (compressed) Users file and a 430MB (compressed) 'System Access' file. Import via linked table (as the file is too big) into Access, build a query, and wait for the processing to run. The current process is a 5MB file opened in Excel and filtered; much easier, quicker, and less bandwidth needed.
For the other example of 'the last login for all users', this is something that cannot be met with any DBMS solution in the proposed change (but is today). I'm not opposed to changes, but I am opposed to them when they cause a worse experience or a loss of functionality.
Re: Known Issues List Updates
From the email and this page: The attachment and the document aren't showing any updates since 5/27. This page: shows updated issues accurately, I think. Would it be possible to make sure the first page has them all?
Password reset email
The user initiated password reset email is not sending out to them. This doesn't seem to happen to everyone and cannot find or see a pattern of why this is happening. It's actually been this way for a while. If I look up a user, I can send them the password reset link email and they will get it. What could be causing this? What settings/permissions do I need to check?
