Re: I'm looking for advice on plagiarism software. What is a good match with brichtspace?
Hi, @Brielle.H.672. I think Inge.S.684 is asking for recommendations in addition to Turnitin? My own experience with Turnitin has been that it flags too many false positives. I would also like to know if there is software besides Turnitin that is compatible with Brightspace and whether people have had a positive experience with them.
We just started having a problem with accessing our URL to get to our login page for D2L
The URL is: https://mccormick.brightspace.com
We have tried two different browsers and cleared history and cache, and tried using three different networks. Still have the issue. It takes a while and once in a while we get to the login screen but more than not it finally errors out. We've made no changes on our end or to anything, and the manual login URL works fine.
Re: Service-to-service authentication?
Any news on this? We are starting to create integrations and would appreciate a OAuth2 Client Credentials flow very much. The suggested way using expiring refresh tokens doesn't seem like doing it the right way.
Re: How do you enable HTML templates in the new content experience?
Thank you for the reply. The instructions you attached do not fix my problem. In the old content view, there was an option under Content Settings to create a new path to the html files to be used. This has disappeared and is what I need. The page view does not give me a "Select Template" option, so I am unable to use any html template, even ones that I've loaded into the course.
Re: Service-to-service authentication?
This solution is not ideal. Using purely refresh tokens and having to create some sort of keep-alive functionality because you don't allow an automated service to fetch a brand new token is not typical integration practice. We have all our D2L content loaded real time from our SIS using your APIs and have been using the older ID KeyAuth solutions to perform server-to-server calls since 2016. I was just looking to update all our automated integrations away from the older ID KeyAuth to OAuth2, but I don't want to use this kind of approach. Please consider incorporating Oauth2 Client Credentials flow in the future. It's designed exactly for this.
Re: Stuck In Refresh
@John.G.31 Hi John, what is the refresh page? I'm also trying to figure out the best way to get basic data profiling (like in Power BI) that will provide important numbers like count of rows before having to create an analysis and build a table that matches what I already built in the dataset… but it does not seem like Quicksight includes any of that.
Re: Is there a way to skip courses from cascading enrollments?
Hi, Rafi. In my experience there isn't a way to make Brightspace "skip" individual courses within the direct pathway of a cascading enrollment (i.e., in child courses of whatever higher level org unit—such as organization or department—you're enrolling them in).
It sounds from what you're saying as if pretty much all of your users are/will be cascade enrolled and you have perhaps a significant number of micro-learnings planned (maybe some now and some more in the future?). If cascade enrolling in everything else on your site is vital to your modus operandi, then revamping your org structure and then choosing to cascade enroll only in one of the lower branches in the hierarchy might be worthwhile… if the person/people doing enrollments are able to maintain accuracy in the face of such extra complexity.
It's fairly infrequent that I personally encounter scenarios where "skipping" descendants would be desirable (I only have a few roles set up to cascade and thankfully there aren't a horrible number of conflicting enrollment needs), so I have always just manually adjusted back whichever user/role/org unit enrollments were overridden in the process of the cascade. The overwhelming majority of my users just have explicit enrollments down at the individual course offering level.
Re: Known Issues List Updates
Totally agree with Ryan's requests. I've also been asking for a link to the KIL in these updates—just logical. That's the entire point of the web, interlinking it all. The 'NEW' designation is a great help. Thank you!
Re: Known Issues List Updates
I second Ryan's thoughts! This change would be very useful to administrators.
