Adoption Planning Series: Get Started on the Right Path as Quickly as Possible
Authored by: Holly Whitaker, PhD, Learning Strategy Consultant at D2L.
Campus-based change leaders work toward widespread adoption of Brightspace at their institutions. We work with instructors, the e-learning team, IT, academic affairs and key campus leaders to move everyone toward confident use of Brightspace. This usually brings a sense of return on investment, that the process of selecting and rolling out a new LMS was definitely worth the effort.
However, it can be difficult to get everyone on board. If you've never led an adoption initiative like this before, it's difficult to know where to start. That overwhelming feeling can keep you paralyzed, fearful that you're not doing a good job or feeling ineffective or disengaged in your role. In that position, it's easy to say to yourself, "Why can't everyone just get to the other side of this - they'll see that things are going to be great." If this thought this sounds familiar, then the adoption planning series is for you!
This series will give you specific steps to identify the foundational tools you want to see adopted across your campus, set attainable goals for how much your team can realistically support, determine how and when to roll out new tools to your instructors, and develop success case stories to help future adopters and key leaders feel confident about Brightspace at your campus.
Because we want to help you get started on the right path as quickly as possible, this series is full of clear examples based on real experiences from the trenches of Brightspace adoption at other campuses like yours.
