Automatic Publishing - flagging late submissions

Hello,
Can there be a feature developed that allows us to still utilize the auto-publish feature, but flag/hold any assignments that are submitted late that require an instructor to manually publish?

As you have noted its not currently possible to delay feedback for late submissions with the auto-publish feature.
