Course Selector access issue
We have had an issue where users have been able to register for a course that was not intended for them to access (we have two different user roles for learners, to differentiate between two stages of career). Is there a method where we can restrict access to the Course Selector icon in the Brightspace Header so these users cannot use this method to access the course they have enrolled in?

Hi there!
Access to the tools in your main navigation is controlled by roles and permissions. So if you want to hide the tool from that particular group of users altogether, you just need to remove their tool permission. It sounds like you just want to limit their access in the nav bar, though, which is only possible if you remove the link from your main nav altogether.

The Course Selector icon is not in the Navigation bar - it is alongside the Subscription Alerts and Update Alerts icons. As far as I am aware, there is not a control within roles and permissions to limit access to these tools based on role - if there is, please can you detail which group of permissions this control is located?

Hi Hugh,
Thank you for your message. You are correct, at this time, we do not have the ability to hide the button that allows students to select courses.
However, even if the button were hidden, students could still access the course directly if another student shared the link. Because of this, the most effective solution would be to address the root cause that allowed these students to be registered in the course initially.
I recommend identifying all affected students and proceeding with unenrollment to prevent further access.
Please let us know if you’d like assistance with listing and unenrolling these students.
Best regards,
