Because one of the courses I teach is highly participatory, the course policy is that a student's final grade is deducted by 6.667% for each unexecused absence beyond 3. For example, if a student has earned a 95% in the class, but has 4 unexcused abscences, their final grade would be a 88.333%.
I cannot figure out a way to do this automatically within Brightspace. This puts students at a disadvantage because the the final grade in Brightspace does not reflect the grade they are truly earning. While I do track attendance and the number of unexcused absences they have left, the students are the ones who have to calculate their grade in order to know what it is. As one can imagine, the students who need this information the most are those who don't take the time to calculate this part of their grade.
Could you please add this as a feature?
