Envelope Icon (File read indicator)

Question

Dear Brightspace community,

The envelope icon depicted in the image above shows students whether or not a lecturer has viewed/opened a submitted file. This has caused discussions between our students and their lecturers about their grades based on what files have/have not been opened. We would like to remove/disable this icon. Is this possible?

Thank you!

Hello @Andre.S.873,

To access the Product Idea Exchange (PIE) you must be logged into your Community profile. You can navigate to PIE under the Resources tab on your top navbar > Subcategory Extend. It will automatically have you logged into PIE so you can submit your own idea or upvote existing submissions!

Thanks,

Gabby

Hi @Mohit.B.8927,

Thank you!

I'm trying to change my password so I can get into the login page you sent me. Unfortunately, I keep getting the "error occurred" message no matter what password I fill in. Is there any way for me to log in?

I did check if I had an existing account and I do, so I can't register my email address again.

Best Regards,

Andre S

Hello @Andre.S.873

My name is Mohit, and I’m a member of the Product Support team.

Thank you for reaching out regarding the envelope icon displayed for submitted files.

At this time, it is not possible to remove or disable this icon. The icon is part of the standard Brightspace system design.

I understand how this could lead students to question or be concerned about their grades, depending on whether a submission has been viewed. However, there is currently no configuration setting available to hide or disable this indicator.

If you would like to see an option to control or disable this indicator in the future, we encourage you to submit or upvote the idea in the  Product Idea Exchange (PIE), where our Product Management team reviews feature requests.

If you're unable to access PIE, please ensure that you've selected your organization from the dropdown list during your Brightspace Community registration rather than manually entering its name. For instructions on updating your organization information, please refer to our  Community article:
