Filters for My Courses Widget

Question

Recently an updated allowed admins to modify the filter for the My Courses widget to display by term. The sort options are either A-Z or Z-A which does not work well for the way our terms are named. Is there a way to manually select the order of how the terms appear (starting with the most recent and going back in time)?

For example:

Current sort would put terms in this order:

Fall 2025 >  Fall 2026 >  Summer 2025 >  Summer 2026 >  Winter 2026  Winter 2027

We'd like it to be:

Winter 2027 >  Fall 2026 > Summer 2026 >  Winter 2026 > Fall 2025  Summer 2025

Is there a way to make this happen?

I appreciate any insights anyone has on this!

Hello @Michelle.L.366, thanks for your question!

At this time we don't have a setting to allow direct sorting, but there's a work-around you could try by adding extra spaces in front of the semester names.

Since you have six semesters you want to sort, you'll have six spaces in front of Winter 2027, five in front of Fall 2026, etc. :

* ______Winter 2027
* _____Fall 2026
* ____Summer 2026
* etc.

The leading spaces won't show up when you see the name within My Courses (I have six in this test):

The only other thing to note is that if you have an IPSIS SIS integration, you'll want to check your settings so that the system doesn't overwrite the changes to org unit names.
