Respondus LockDown Browser with G-W Integrated Exams

Hi!

We have Respondus LockDown Browser available within our D2L Brightspace environment, and several of our instructors would like to use it when students take their exams.

A few of our instructors are using the G-W integration to bring their exams into D2L. I have tried to set up Respondus LockDown Browser on the instructor side for these exams, but I’m not seeing an option to enable LockDown Browser for the exams that have been brought in through the G-W integration.

I know LockDown Browser can be used with D2L quizzes, so I’m wondering if there is a limitation with using it on quizzes/exams that come into D2L through a publisher integration.

Is this something that should be possible with the G-W integration? If not, is there another way you would recommend that our instructors secure these exams while still allowing them to use the G-W integration and have the exams/grades remain connected to D2L?

I appreciate any guidance you can provide. I’m just trying to figure out the best option for our instructors and students.

There are options available to you for investigation:

1. Imorting the assessment into Brightspace using Common Cartridge, see  https://support.g-w.com/kb/article/72-brightspace-d2l-how-to-import-a-common-cartridge/?section_id=151
   1. Looking through the G-W documentation the assessment should be imported as a Brightspace quiz upon which you should be able to enable Respondus
2. Adding G-W as an LTI 1.3 tool, see  https://support.g-w.com/kb/article/1188-g-w-lti-1-3-setup-for-brightspace-d2l/
   1. Some online resources suggest adding the G-W LTI 1.3 assessment link into a Brightspace Quiz description

   3. This workflow may not be feasible for Learners or Instuctors but maybe worth exploring

Option 1 is definitely the most practical and provides all user the best workflow and user experience.
