Release Condition with Calculated or Formula Grade Item

Is it possible to setup a release condition on a module based on a calculated or formula field in a gradebook?

I may have a situation where for example an instructor would want 5 small assignments worth 2 points each in one module. I would like learners to earn at least 7 of the 10 points before the next module opens. I can create a calculated or formula grade book item, but I do not either listed for a release condition when I try to set it up for a module.

Is this not possible, and if not can I feature request this somehow? Is it possible to set a release condition based on total number of points in a gradebook category instead?

Thank you for the detailed explanation. This is a great use case, and I can certainly see the value in what you're trying to achieve.

Unfortunately, this is not currently possible in Brightspace. Calculated/formula grade items and grade category totals are not supported as release condition criteria, and there is no reliable workaround to fully replicate this behavior automatically.

One possible workaround would be to create a standard numeric-grade item where the instructor manually enters the cumulative score for the group of assignments, and then use that item as the release-condition trigger. However, this is entirely manual and not practical at scale, so it may not be suitable depending on class size.

Given the value of this functionality and its potential benefit to other instructors, I have submitted a Product Idea Exchange (PIE) request on your behalf, asking that calculated/formula grade items and grade category totals be supported as release condition criteria.
