Limiting number of students in one group (out of many)

Hi,

I have setup a series of groups in the 'groups tool', and have set a group self-enrollment of up to 4 students per group.

I have a couple of students with learning difficulties, and I want to place them in groups on their own. I can add a new group and manually assign them, but until the groups tool is closed, I can't find a way of either limiting the number of students in an individiual group (i.e. if I setup 40 groups with 4 members each, then I go into group X and I can limit it individually to another number of students).

Is there a way we can do this or add this feature? It would greatly improve the accessibility for some students who present with neurodivergence, and can't cope having group members.

I hope you're doing well.

Unfortunately, the enrollment limit is applied at the category level, so if you've created a category with 40 self-enrollment groups and a maximum of 4 students per group, every group in that category inherits that same limit. There isn't currently a way to override the capacity for an individual group within a category.

However, there is an existing Product Idea Exchange (PIE) request for this functionality, and we encourage you to upvote it to help prioritize it:

In the meantime, as a workaround, you could enroll dummy/test users into the group to occupy slots and effectively reduce the number of real students who can self-enroll. For example, adding 3 dummy users to a 4-person group would leave only 1 spot for an actual student.
